FROM THE SECRETARIAT

Secretary-General's Letter

AH

Nishita Agarwal

Secretary-General, AHMUN 8.0

Dear Delegates and Esteemed Executive Board Members,

It is my privilege to welcome you to the Eighth Annual Conference of Avalon Heights Model United Nations.

For years, AHMUN has been a space where passionate individuals come together to exchange ideas, challenge perspectives, and engage with the issues shaping our world. Beyond committee sessions and resolutions, it is a place where conversations begin, friendships are formed, and confidence is built.

Having participated in numerous conferences over the years, including three unforgettable years as a delegate at AHMUN itself, I have witnessed firsthand the impact that Model United Nations can have. Some of my most valuable lessons, strongest friendships, and most memorable experiences have emerged from these committee rooms.

Whether you are attending your first MUN or your twentieth, I hope AHMUN 8.0 challenges and excites you to think critically, speak boldly, and listen thoughtfully. More importantly, I hope it becomes a place where you create memories and connections that stay with you long after the conference concludes.

On behalf of the Secretariat and Organizing Committee, I look forward to welcoming you this July and witnessing the enthusiasm that defines the spirit of AHMUN.

Warm Regards,

Nishita Agarwal

Secretary-General, AHMUN 8.0

AHMUN 8.0 — THE CORE CONCEPT

Fractures Before
Midnight

Some fault lines can't be ignored anymore.

Explore Below
THE CONCEPT
“Collapse is rarely immediate. Beneath every moment of crisis lie years of pressure.”

Presenting to you the theme for AHMUN 8.0: Fractures Before Midnight. At the heart of our theme lies a simple truth, collapse is rarely immediate. Beneath every moment of crisis lie years of pressure, instability, and neglect. The fractures that threaten our world are often invisible, until they become impossible to ignore. As the Doomsday Clock nears midnight, it becomes increasingly urgent to understand these fractures and prevent them from becoming tomorrow’s catastrophe.

The world does not break all at once. Every conflict, every disruption, every warning sign is part of a larger story unfolding beneath the surface. With the Doomsday Clock set at just 85 seconds to midnight, which is the closest it has ever been, humanity stands closer than ever to a moment of reckoning. This theme is a call to recognize the pressures building beneath the surface and then come together to set in the reversal of the Doomsday Clock.
